Font - Neighbors built a 3+ story house with a roof top deck 12' from our one story cottage and are now they can see me in my outside shower. The new neighbors bought the cottage next door, tore it down and built a disgusting new towering 3+ story house 12' from the side of our coastal cottage that has been in hubby's family for almost 80 years(we have lived here full time for over 10). We have always had an open air (no roof) stall type outside shower (sides are about 5.5' high) off the back of

Font - as long as it is kept the same we do not need to have plumbing connected to the sewer for a drain($$$$). Well, with the new roof top deck nextdoor, the neighbors can see straight down into the shower. When the house very first went up I added height to the side of the shower facing their house, making it 7' high, but because they are so close and towering, it really does nothing to block their roof deck. I mean,

Font - personally, I don't care. If they want to be creeps and peep that's on them, but the wife is AT US and today I overheard her giving her husband about how he should come over here and complain. She must have been up there pretending to be a princess or something when I got back from a swim. I'm not quite sure how to handle it if he actually does come here because obviously I'm not really their biggest fan. I find it mildly infuriating that these people can come to our town, block our air a

Font - pistes-party. 5 days ago We had a neighbor move in and pay a lot to put a custom hot tub under an evergreen tree that's ~30 feet tall. They literally had to use tarps to hold the tree away from the curing concrete of the spa at various points. The tree is on our property and probably was here when the houses were built. Now they want us to cut down the tree because it drops things in their spa water. It's like.... you knew it was there?! 11.8k Reply Share

Font - Erudite-Hirsute. 5 days ago The fix is for them to add a privacy screen to their build so they don't see it. If they aren't prepared to do that then it's all a lot of fuss about nothing. Some people love to have something to complain about. It makes them feel superior. 11.3k Reply Share

Font - tvieno +3.5 days ago Your house was there first. The outdoor shower was also there first. They were the ones that came in afterwards and changed what they could see. They need to change where they look if they don't want to be offended. 3.0k Reply Share

Font - Old Goat Ninja 5 days ago +3. I would LOVE for someone to come over and complain if I was in your shoes. That would be an interesting discussion. Ir this was here before you built your house. I could understand if their house was there first, but nope, they built theirs the way they did way after yours was built. I'd enjoy every moment of that conversation if they are the ones Il off. You have a right to be upset if you so choose, they absolutely do not. 1.2k Reply Share

Font - Rare-Bid-6860 . 5 days ago This reminds me of when I moved into a 1st floor flat, broke SO couldnt buy blinds for a while. My bedroom window was opposite traffic lights, and a few times a bus would stop while I was getting dressed for work, and I'd make eye contact, with passengers on the upper deck. Eventually learnt that smiling and waving would instantly make them look away. 687 Reply Share

Font - Mycatwearspants. 5 days ago Ⓒ If you talk for the husband in front of the wife be subtly flirty with him. Then end the conversation with a playful variation of "I know you're peeking, stop it silly" again make sure it's subtle enough so that it doesn't make you look obvious but this will explode the wife on the inside and she will slowly believe her husband is watching you shower. It will start causing fights in their house which will lead to them either getting a divorce or selling the h

Font - moonyriot My mom has been in a constant battle with the neighbors since they moved in 4 years ago. My parents have a tree near the fence line that's messy. If the wind blows right, it drops leaves in their pool. They refuse to get a pool vacuum or hire a pool guy to clean once a week (it's a wealthy neighborhood, they can afford it) but they want my parents to cut the tree down (not only are they not going to do that, the HOA won't allow it unless the . 5 days ago tree is dying.) Font - Hereiam_AKL 5 days ago. edited 5 days ago Just install a bright security light that points right their way and couple it with your bathroom light. If it is dark, the security light comes on, EXCEPT if you are switching on the bathroom light, which will turn off the security light. That way, you tell them exactly what you think about their complaint. 482 Reply Share

Font - NotScruffyNerfherder. 5 days ago If they ever do complain, simply say. The shower was there when you bought the cottage. The shower was there when you approved a monstrosity that blocked our view.

Font - The shower was there when you decided the roof top deck should look over it. The shower will be there until I sell the place or So I guess the best advice I can give is build a privacy wall in your deck, or just don't look.

Font - But I want to point out, that even though you built something that doesn't fit the neighborhood aesthetic, is towering over my home, reducing my breeze, my views and my privacy I have not come to complain because it's your place. So please, let's just be friendly neighbors and not worry about what's going on next door, unless it's an invite for a couple of drinks. 474 Reply Share
